Epworth North Lincolnshire Council

Customer Overview

Videcom Security Ltd tendered and designed a new closed circuit digital video system for Epworth, a small village on the outskirts of Scunthorpe.

The Challenge

The purpose of the installation was to enable the village to be monitored from within the newly refurbished digital ready town centre control room in Scunthorpe which is situated 18km away.

24/7 monitoring of live video, as well as access to recorded images, was considered to be essential if the video surveillance system was to be effective and it made sense for this to happen at an existing, fully equipped central control room in Scunthorpe.

The Solution

Using SilverNet MICRO links configured as point to point links, Videcom collected the street level camera signals and combined them onto two pairs of SilverNet LITE transmission sets, relaying the digital camera signals back to Scunthorpe CCTV control via Epworth Water Tower. The signals were sent via a SilverNet MAX link from the water tower to the control room in Scunthorpe at a distance of approximately 18km.

Silvernet

This new installation has allowed for real time recording and monitoring with minimal control latency utilising a Videcom VNR digital recording and display platform for live display and playback of the recorded ONVIF streams.

Long Range

Success

Danny Harsley Northern Engineering Manager for Videcom said. "The SilverNet range of point to point radios through to their 80Ghz high bandwidth links are our preferred wireless equipment of choice, with their easy installation and configuration, functionality of the antennas and on-going technical support, allowing system design to incorporate an element of future proofing from the very start"
