Barton Upon Humber CCTV & Wireless solution

Customer Overview

North Lincolnshire Council required a monitored CCTV solution within the village of Barton.  This needed to be controlled by their control room in Scunthorpe. The system would need to be monitored, controlled and recorded 24hrs a day by the existing NLC 24/7 control room.

The Challenge

Videcom’s design was required to utilise existing street furniture whilst at the same time giving best overall coverage of the area using a mixture of both fixed and PTZ cameras. All cameras were to be full HD IP and to be positioned in such a way that they used the minimum amount of cameras with as little visual impact on the area as possible.

The system transmission was based on a license free 5.8Ghz free to air point to point wireless solution with a single point of access locally within Barton for easy access for maintenance purposes.

The Solution

Videcom are a major SilverNet Systems Partner and integrator. Over recent years SilverNet and Videcom have formed a close partnership, working together on numerous other successful projects utilizing a wide range of SilverNet equipment.

This project included a mixture of SilverNet links:

SILMAX 500 – BACKHAUL

SILLITE240 – BACKHAUL

SILLITE95 – BACKHAUL

In addition to this Videcom were also the first installers of the new PICO point to point links.

Barton PICO

SilverNet’s new PICO is the perfect solution for the “last mile” with its built in antenna and range up to 1km. The PICO was designed and manufactured by British company Silvernet to enable installers the flexibility within their systems to install reliable wireless transmission over shorter distances. Its lower energy foot print, improved resilience and reduction in spectrum congestion all ensure efficiencies in both the installation costs and running costs of the system. The PICO links provide a cost effective solution with their unique NMS SilverView built in as standard. Whilst they are offered competitively priced there is no compromise on quality.

PICO Arty

Danny Harsley Northern Engineering Manager for Videcom said “The PICO links allowed us much more versatility around their mounting position due to their lightweight and minimum size which in turn gave us greater flexibility as to where the cameras could be positioned”

CAMERAS

A mixture of both fixed and PTZ IP cameras were used for the project to provide increased coverage and overall better views of the area at any one time. This decreases the overall workload of the end operator, providing a cost effective solution to meet with customer requirements.

PIC2

The SilverNet equipment worked perfectly with the REDVISION HD IP PTZ and the LG FIXED HD IP The system design requirements were made possible due to the flexibility and costs of the SilverNet Wireless design.

How it Worked

Once all camera signals from the Point to Point systems were collected at the central hub they were then transmitted over a SilverNet LITE 240 backhaul to the Humber Bridge. They then linked into an existing SIL MAX500 backhaul link (previously installed by Videcom for another wireless solution within the same area). This then transmitted almost 20KM to the Scunthorpe control room for monitoring onto Videcom’s own VNR recording system. Videcom’s ONVIF VNR gives complete system recording of both digital and analogue cameras from the same system giving the end operator ease of access and control all in one place.
